Pastor of Worship & Administration

Gordon has been serving at Westside Baptist Church as Minister of Music/Church Administration since October of 2003. Leaving the Kroger Company in 2001, after 20 years of employment, he accepted the calling into a full-time ministry position at First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs.

He knew at age 16 that God had called him into the ministry, and had the opportunity to serve at both Oak Hill Baptist Church and Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in part-time positions. In 1988 he graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Music/Vocal Performance. After graduation he recorded a solo project in 1991 entitled "I Choose To Follow" and was invited to share his ministry in numerous churches in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and both of the Carolinas all the while maintaining his employment with the Kroger Company. In 1994, upon the leading of the Holy Spirit he stopped taking solo singing engagements. He entered a time of rest and spiritual growth. During this time he prayed daily for his place in the ministry to be revealed to him. In 1998 he was blessed to marry Missy Hicks, and in 1999 they had their first son, Parker. In the years to follow they would continue to increase their family and have 3 more sons, Carson, Bailey, and Landon. After praying for 7 years, God called him into full-time Music Ministry to First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs.

Gordon gets excited when telling about that 7 year prayer meeting. "It was in those years of crying out to God in desperation when I could hear the clearest" Gordon says. Now understanding fully his calling, Gordon loves to engage others in corporate worship more than he ever loved being the front singer, once again proving that God does know best. He is now able to use his talents to inspire, encourage, and motivate others in corporate worship.
